PREVIEW: Are You a Songbird or a Snake?
The early life of President Snow gives a new perspective to the future ruler.
From poison berries in the arena to the star-crossed lovers from District 12, “The Hunger Games” franchise has consumed the public. Since 2008, when the first novel came out, readers were invested in the path that writer Suzanne Collins would take.
The books coming out one year after another, gave the audience time to dig deep into the text while waiting patiently for the next novel.
When word of the creation of making movies based on the novels came out, valued fans were eager to see the adaptation. However, as most know, the on screen portrayal of novels is not quite the same as the books. The directors of the movies worked hand in hand with Collins to make the movies the best they could be by casting some great actors.
Ten years after “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” came out, the prologue, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” was released. With this shocking news, readers jumped on the chance to read a new installment to the franchise.
The new novel is about life before the beloved Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen (Everlark) met each other. Life prior to the games seen in the first book gives the audience a sense of the society heavily focused on President Snow before his future reign over Panem.
Now three years after the latest release, an on screen adaptation is made and will be released in November for all to see on the big screen. “The Hunger Games” is currently going through a “renaissance” since the beginning of this year. The anticipation is high as edits of Everlark are going around on Tiktok and to top it all off, Netflix announced that the first three movies would be available for viewing in March 2023.
Although the book has more close up details, fans are eager to see a new movie in the franchise. Paying for their movie tickets, grabbing popcorn and sitting on the edge of their seats, fans will see life before Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.
