Graduation, prom, college and the final exams: these are a few things people think of when they picture senior year. The dream of finally finishing high school is close to becoming true, but before graduation happens, the class of 2024 has to make it through their last two semesters of school.
Senior year is an opportunity for many things, it’s a chance to push yourself harder than what you’ve done before. A challenge you can try is taking advanced classes rather than on-level classes.
“If you are taking those honors, those AP courses to challenge yourself, you’re going to have a more difficult time,” senior Vincent Timberlake said. “But not only will that help you build up that rigor for college…it helps you to get rid of some credit hours which cost an arm and a leg now.”
After three years of high school, seniors are finally getting to enjoy their well-deserved time in the spotlight.
“This is going to sound weird but it feels like you’re on the top,” Timberlake said. “It’s just really nice to have that feeling of yeah, you’re on the top, you’re like the veterans of the school.”
Some students are just focused on finally being able to graduate and move onto college or wherever life takes them.
“I’m just ready to get out of here. I wanna go to college,” senior Teagan Frank said. “I’m so excited.”
Looking back at their long high school careers, this year’s seniors also have some great advice for the underclassmen.
“Challenge yourself, don’t ever settle, never give up, just do it,” Timberlake said. “If you think you want to do something just do it, don’t be scared, don’t fear failure because failure it is going to happen eventually you will fail. I think everyone’s failed at least one time and we grow from that.”
Let’s give this year’s seniors a great memorable year to end their high school careers with. In no time the seniors will be up on that stage walking to get their diploma. For the class of 2024 the dream of ending high school is close to coming true.
