The year everyone has been anticipating since they were sixth graders lining up to go to recess: senior year. It has been put on a pedestal for many students. With high expectations and limited time, students try their best to make senior year memorable. The Senior Committee plans enjoyable activities to make senior year a year students wouldn’t forget.
Senior Committee makes certain decisions for the senior class. Its priority is to focus on the overall well being of the class of 2024 and planning special moments for the year.
Many students are passionate about joining and have many ideas to start with for the year.
“I think this year will stand out compared to other years because of many refreshing ideas we are trying to stabilize. ” Senior Anna Simon said. “We are striving for a senior sunrise and sunset idea,to symbolize new beginnings and endings in our life.”
Many other responsibilities the committee has to endure are connecting the class of 2024 with each other and planning events to build excitement for the final year.
“The committee plans a senior quote for our grade, the senior barbeque and senior sunrise. We try to make the final year one students won’t forget.” Senior Caroline Carrico said.
With the class of 2024 coming to an end, many students share the same experiences as they undergo life together here at PLHS.
“I think it’s important to bring everyone together here, afterall our class has been through similar events,” Carrico said. “With the effect of covid and how our grade was impacted by that, it made us realize we have to bring people together. Senior Committee does a good job at connecting us with one another.”
Each year the Senior Committee strives to stand out from previous years, this year is no different.
“Every class has a bit of bias thinking they are the best, however, class of 2024 main priority is including everyone no matter the social status or background they have. Every student gets a say and makes sure their voice is heard,” Simon said. “Everyone deserves to feel like they belong here and the senior committee offers that welcoming space.”
With the class of 2024 journey ending at PLHS, the Senior Committee is striving to make this year’s focus to include seniors of all backgrounds to make sure their voices are heard. Anticipation is high for a good senior year and the Senior Committee is full of ideas.
