Faith comes in many forms: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam- just to name a few. For those who believe in faith and religion, it can be a high priority in their life. Faith is not something that can just be discovered overnight, though, it is something that has to be found and explored. Here at PLHS, there is a club that is doing just that.
FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It is a club that is meant for students to explore their religion with fellow classmates and athletes. One of the club’s veteran members, senior Dallas Hamilton, has many goals for the upcoming year for the club.
“I hope we can expand the club to welcome more members as well as go to more events and overall, expand FCA,” Hamilton said.
Mr. Curry’s (the club’s sponsor) excitement towards the club to advance makes students like senior Brock Rahl excited to return weekly.
“I like how I can tap into my faith with my classmates,” Rahl said. “I can make some deeper bonds with people I wouldn’t have a chance to have a bond with without FCA.”
FCA is a place where people can explore themselves and their faith, but it is not necessarily just that. The members know how to have a little fun as well.
“ My favorite memory is just all the times we played three hack whack last year,” Rahl said.
Although it was a long summer, FCA’s members are ready to get back and have fun with their fellow classmates as well as explore their faith deeper, Rahl among them. FCA welcomes new members every week, regardless of where students are in their journey of their faith. It is not only a club meant to explore faith, but it is also meant to create tighter bonds with fellow classmates and athletes. Faith comes in many forms, and regardless of what one believes, the fact that they have faith in something connects everyone.
