Football. Basketball. Volleyball. Baseball. Softball. Those are just some of the sports that the Media Academy streams.
Media Academy is great for anyone who sees themselves working in broadcast media in the future, enjoys recording and editing videos, or telling stories.
Sophomores Maggie Fredrick and Mackenzie Fredrick are two students involved in the Media Academy here at PLHS.
“This is my second year with the academy, but my first year on the production side.” Maggie Fredrick said.
While some people get involved in sports or activities at school to give themselves something to do, some people do it to make new friends and meet new people.
“The people in Media are so fun, hardworking, and creative,” Maggie said. “I have so much fun in class and at streams.”
Along with making many new friends, there are also so many amazing memories that can be made.
“The one day that we didn’t have internet at school. We literally can’t do anything because all of our stuff involves internet technology,” Mackenzie Fredrick said. “We decided to play spoons in class and it was so funny.”
Behind every amazing, hardworking classroom, is an amazing hardworking teacher. Having a teacher that is always there for you to help you and be there for you is such an important part of a child’s education.
“Ms. Hoch is the bomb! She is such an amazing teacher,” Maggie said. “Hoch is so hardworking, smart, and so nice! I learn something new everyday from her.”
Being in Media Academy can be a lot of hard work, which can come with a lot of stress on a person as well.
“There have definitely been moments when I asked myself, “Why am I doing this?,” Mackenzie said. “There were some moments last year in studies class where, you know, things were hard for me.”
Even though things may be difficult and stressful at times, it’s important to persevere through the hard times.
“I’m extremely glad that I took the class. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else in the fall,” Mackenzie said. “It’s by far my favorite thing that I do.”
Although being in Media Academy can be a lot of hard work and takes a lot of time and dedication, it’s important to persevere and go through it, then the rewards are better than the hard times.
