Temperatures reaching the 70’s and UV indexes rising may be the dream for some students because it means one thing. Summer is coming.
Summer is a time for students to escape the stress of school, and relax under the sun. For some, summer is also a time to escape the reality of Nebraska.
“I’m going to Fort Collins, Colorado,” junior Allison Campbell said. “[I’m excited to] see my family and go up in the mountains.”
For students like junior Madison Perez, the possibility of going on a vacation is still up in the air.
“I might be going to Santa Barbra, California,” Perez said.
During summer, the possibilities are endless. With school not taking up hours of the day, there is more time to do activities that bring excitement into one’s day.
“I’m most excited to go out and go to the mall with my friends,” Campbell said. “And go to the pool a lot.”
Whether it is the heat or just the fact that students are no longer in school, there is more likely than not a favorite part of the season.
“I like the weather and how everything is open,” Perez said. “And Papillion Days, I like the lemonade and the rides there.”
There is only two and a half months of summer vacation, which means there is a slim amount of time to accomplish the things one desires during this break.
“I’m hoping to accomplish a really good tan,” Campbell said. “And just enjoying every day of summer.”
With only a week left of school, and temperatures that have consistently been warm, summer vacation is near and it will soon be time to relax. And as Troy Bolton sang in High School Musical 2, “I’m off the clock, the pressures off.”
