Not wanting to go to practice, we have all been there. This cheer season for lots of the girls has definitely had its ups and downs, but they have a new addition to the team this year, being their new assistant coach Elizabeth. Coach E mainly deals with keeping track of merits to letter and also assisting JV at there morning games, and of course helping out the whole team at practices along with Coach Kyndra and Coach Mac, Who all have a very familiar background with cheer.
Along with the Coaches, multiple girls on the team have a very familiar background with cheer being Sophomore Audri Gutierrez and Sophomore Jocelyn Watson.
“I’ve been doing cheer since I was 3, but have been doing high school cheer since I was a freshman,” Gutierrez said. “And freshman year I was on JV and now I am on Varsity.”
Even with cheering for a long period of time or only one or two years there are always things to improve on and coach Elizabeth has been a tremendous help to the girls improving skills.
“Coach Elizabeth this year has helped me cheer by improving my confidence in stunting,” Watson said.
Elizabeth has also introduced the girls to new games to help them improve on their skills.
“She has helped me improve on my motions and being tight,” Gutierrez said.
With this new cheer season starting and getting back into the swing of things and even learning everything for the first time, the girls have only positive things to say about coach Elizabeth.
“Elizabeth has brought in more positive vibes and a smile that lights up the room and helped the team’s practices be more fun,” Gutierrez said.
A coach with a good attitude and ready to work puts the cheer team in a good position for the season to start.
“She has helped our cheer team for the better by always bringing a positive attitude and uplifting everyone’s mood on the team, and making the cheer season more enjoyable for me and my teammates,” Watson said.
With a great coach always comes memorable moments, that you will remember forever.
“On our way to an away game at Lincoln South, in the van with Elizabeth was pretty fun and we got to jam out to music,” Gutierrez said. “She is still a great coach even though we couldn’t get McDonalds.”
Now practices are more enjoyable and even more motivating with an extra set of hands all thanks to coach Elizabeth, and her dedication to this team!
