The Roaring sound from the lions, the humming from the birds, the humid breeze from the sun filled with thousands of people per day, to learn and have a better understanding of their lives and to achieve your future career you’ve been longing for.
Every May of each year, junior and senior students from districts all over have an unique opportunity to become acquainted with the zoo academy. The Zoo will eagerly await to hear from you and for your response, they only accept a majority of students from each school which means this is a rare acceptance from the zoo. When accepted for admission it’s a very special moment toward each and every student, since it helps motivate and achieve a great appearance for future colleges.
“The zoo academy impacts my life by improving my knowledge about animals to become a veterinarian and for a better viewpoint for colleges,” Junior Aliyah Popp said, “The Zoo Academy is definitely a great opportunity for students that want to work in animal care.”
For Junior Amari Zach, the zoo academy was more than just an opportunity for a great viewpoint toward colleges, it was a place where she could explore and learn more about the animals life and how to improve it.
“The zoo academy helps me learn and have a better understanding of the different types of animals throughout the zoo to improve in my future process of being a wildlife specialist.” Amari Zach said.
During the zoo you have many different opportunities around each and every student, the zoo even applies scholarships and block scheduling for the students. Which is a great way for students to comprehend the new understandings toward the animals.
“The block scheduling helps improve my thought process and keep me stress free considering the fact that the block scheduling gives me time to finish my work and study for future tests,” Popp said.
“The classes are very similar toward the highschools with lessons, but the lessons take their own course throughout the weeks since they will take us to observe the nature of the animals on the zoo campus.”
Other students just love to be out of class not only to observe and learn but to have a better connection toward the other students and teachers.
“Yes the classes are pretty similar but they differ in their own way, this is because for me we get to talk and enjoy the lessons more than the lessons at the highschool. It’s also like you’re going on a trip everyday with your classmates.” Zach said. “The block scheduling is definitely a plus in my opinion considering we get time to really take our time and improve our work before submission and since you don’t have to stress to scramble answers to study guides that you have to study the same night.”
For many students just getting at least an opportunity to experience this amazing academy is just life changing. Just to look back and tell your parents in the future and say “Hey mom and dad I made it, I’m making my dream come true and saving many animal lives”.
