The Westview Wolverines came into Monday’s match against the Monarch varsity girls soccer team hoping to claim their third win of the season. However, the Monarchs defended their home turf with a storm of three first half goals on their way to a 8-0 victory. The team has had a strong start to their season, entering this game with four consecutive wins putting them at a record of 6-1. Now, the team is on a hot five win streak as they head into Metros this up coming week facing the Titans from Papillion South in the first round this Thursday.
The Monarchs led an offensive dominate game. They had possession majority of the match making it hard for the Wolverines to compete. Junior Romy Olson made two exceptional goals back to back during the first half.
“I was so excited,” Olson said. “It was my first two goals of the season. I have played leftback this season so I was happy to be midfield this game and get some goals.”
The girls continued to control the game into the second half scoring an additional five goals. Junior Emma Wasilewski had a big impact on the game along with Olson also scoring two goals.
“It felt great,” Wasilewski said. “I didn’t realize how far out I was and that I was against the wind but it went into the back of the net so it felt good.”
Entering the last ten minutes, the JV girls got a chance to play against the Wolverines. Sophomore Lilly Brewer secured her first goal of the season at the end of the game making the final score 8-0.
“My teammate made a great cross to me when I was in the box and I was able to score off of it,” Brewer said. “It was a great opportunity to play.”
The team will face the Titans this Thursday in their first round of Metros. The girls played Titans once earlier this season defeating them 3-0 so they are hoping for the same outcome.
“We have been connecting passes and making good runs so I think our chances of winning are good,” Wasilewski said.
