Prêt, Feu, Partez! The members of French Club race through the hallways to be the first group to finish their Goosechase event. On Sept. 4, French Club had their second meeting of the school year, where they competed in a French themed scavenger hunt in teams against each other around the building.
To start the activity, the students got into four to five groups of people with different levels of understanding of the French language and downloaded an app called “Goosechase” that was needed for the activity,
“A goosechase is a scavenger hunt, so you have a list of different things that you have to go find,” senior Genevieve Casey said. “For us it was in French so you’d have to read it in French and then you’d go around the school and find something that represents the answer.”
These questions had teams running all over the school in order to find the answers before the other groups.
“A question was an example of construction, and so we went out, and we had to get a picture of the construction area, and then submit that,” Casey said.
Not all of these tasks were as easy as the others were, as there were many groups getting stuck on questions during the scavenger hunt,
“Finding the locker [was difficult] because my group and I forgot the word for locker so we thought they were saying classroom in French,” senior Madison Steingiesser said. “So we were trying to look for classroom 188, which doesn’t exist.”
The members of French Club that participated in the scavenger hunt activity found it to be a great opportunity to bond with their fellow club members, as well as a way to improve their French skills.
“It was a fun experience especially because I’m in French four, and I was with some people in French one,” Steingiesser said, “so it’s kind of interesting to help them out, and then also see what their opinions were.”
