If you’re a twitter fanatic like I am, you’ve certainly heard about the “Florida Man challenge” by now. If you haven’t, the Florida Man challenge is where you search “Florida man + your birthday” to find the corresponding article. Usually, Google will come up with a news story that’s funny, unexpected, and shocking. It’s gone viral in a matter of days due to the ridiculousness of it.
Some examples of this twitter trend would be:
June 23rd: Florida man convicted of killing former FSU mascot in gumbo spice dispute.
February 8th: Florida man arrested for hitting his girlfriend in the face with a burrito.
March 19th: Hot sauce saves Florida man after car crashes into Taco Bell.
Apparently, Florida is an exciting and weird place, which is why the trend focuses on the ridiculousness of news stories. As another silly trend, it’s rather entertaining and unique to read about the strange things that happen in Florida.
