Boba’s Back

“The Book of Boba Fett” is a welcome edition to the Star Wars franchise.

When I was eight years old, my mom and dad invited me to watch a movie with some family friends. They said it was an action packed, science fiction movie set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The movie was “Star Wars: A New Hope.”

Since then, I’ve become a Star Wars super fan. I’ve seen all the movies and I absolutely love them. I feel like I have a connection to all of the characters and they have definitely shaped the kind of person I am today.

In 2015, a new saga was born taking place years after the originals. Since then, more movies have come out along with some hit tv shows. One series in particular that came out recently is “The Book Of Boba Fett.” After bingeing the first season of “The Mandalorian,” I was excited to watch a new chapter unfold.

The first episode transports viewers to dusty Tatooine right after Luke Skywalker kills Jabba the Hutt,  leaving the desert planet lawless. This leaves the throne open and cold-hearted bounty hunter Boba Fett seeks out this opportunity after helping out the one and only Mandalorian. But he’s unable to do this without a little help from someone who is, arguably, more ruthless than him himself.

His “right-hand” man in this thrilling new series is actually a woman. Merciless Fennec Shand makes her second appearance in the Star Wars universe and she does not disappoint. Not only is she an unforgiving mercenary, she also brings some much needed comedy into this action packed thriller.

The pilot episode, which aired on December 29, 2021, also featured some familiar faces. Fans are almost immediately confronted with a recognizable group of vigilantes: Tusken raiders. From their first appearance in the fourth episode, which came out in 1977, to this new show, they have been an important part of life on Tatooine.

One of Jabba’s former torture droids, 8D8, is also a part of the show. Fett relies on 8D8 for help and it is kind of ironic seeing a torture droid as someones “live-in nurse”.

Many other characters and settings appear again in the show and remind people of where the entire franchise began.

The whole show has been phenomenal so far and I think director Bryce Dallas Howard is doing an exceptional job with the entire thing. I cannot think of anything that is lacking in the extraordinary script or amazing cast.

This series definitely has a bright future coming and, hopefully, some more seasons to come. It might even be better than “The Mandalorian” was, which is saying a lot because it was another fantastic series. The future of the Star Wars franchise is in very good hands.
