Clubs

When you walk into high school, you probably wonder if there are people like you with the same interests.

Clubs are a great way for you to connect with new people and find people like you. Clubs can help you be productive after school and take part in events to support or represent the school.

They can also be beneficial for the future.

Many people may feel excited when they see a club of the activity they like. “I was excited because it gave me an opportunity to meet new people.” Sawyer Edwards, member of the Dungeons and Dragons club said. Clubs are great ways to meet new people who are similar to you.

“ I wanted to do something with my time and I saw quiz bowl as something that I wanted to do.” Noah Selph, a member of quiz bowl said. Clubs are a good way to use your time after school instead of being on social media.

Clubs are recommended to freshmen who may not know many people. They can introduce material that may be taught in a class later in the year, and they can benefit from it.

“ I would recommend clubs to freshmen who are new to the school or district. It can increase their social skills.” Edwards said.

When applying for a job, having skills learned from clubs can increase your chance of being hired at some locations. “ I recommend clubs because they are good for resumes and contributing to the school.” Selph said.

When meeting with your club, it can be calm, weird or crazy.  When you walk into the club, you don’t know what will happen.

“On Tuesdays it’s chaotic because you can be yourself because you do what you need to do.” Edwards said.

Other times, the club is relaxed like a studying club or some sort of academic club.

“We meet and run through questions to expand our knowledge, sharpen reaction time, and familiarize procedures.” Selph said.

Clubs are great for new students to high school or just school in general, every school should be open to suggestions for clubs.
