In the finals Niemiec lost 3-1 in overtime against Millard South’s Tyler Antoniak. Niemiec’s 2nd place finish was the highest for the Monarchs.

Abels was ranked 4th by NE Wrestling coming into the state tournament, but he exceeded the expectations. At state Abels lost in the quarterfinals, but he was able to wrestle his way through his consolation matches to place 3rd over Chris Wortman of Millard South.
