As high school is coming to an end for the class of 2024 there is a lot to look back on; the football games, school dances or the two minute reunion in the hallway with your friends before your next class, there are a lot of memories to cherish.
For Senior Alexis Hoang one club in particular will leave a special place in her heart: Circle of Friends. This club is a welcoming organization to enable friendships among students at Monarch nation by connecting with special needs students.
“I have been involved in the club since my sophomore year,” Hoang said. “I have always been so busy with extracurricular activities that I wasn’t always able to make the meetings but I try my best to attend the outings.”
From baseball outings to pumpkin patches, the group stays busy planning the next best event.
“The activities are always fun because there is more time to converse with each other than monthly meetings,” Hoang said. “My favorites are trivia night, Warner Park baseball games and the Bellevue Berry Farm.”
The zoo outing which took place on the 23rd of April served as a great bonding experience for all the teachers and students involved.
“We were split into two groups and we had the freedom to explore the zoo and to return to the jungle by lunch,” Hoang said. “We went through the African Highlands after lunch and visited the reptiles which we were excited to see.”
Over the past years, Hoang has taken away valuable lessons and teachings from Circle of Friends.
“I have learned so much, I would say being open to others and being myself has been a great experience,” Hoang said. “I am so thankful for this club and the people I met. If It weren’t for this club I would have never met the people I did, for that I am beyond grateful.”
