The sound of music is what you hear first, the heat and the sound of shoes hitting the gym floors hits you second. It is 10 p.m. and you’re still at school. 

Homecoming 2022 is back! While last year’s homecoming was great, students were looking forward to an even better homecoming. 

While looking forward to this year’s homecoming students reflected on last year’s homecoming. 

“My favorite part of homecoming last year was being out on the football field,” sophomore Tu Hoang said. “The DJ was good and all of the games out on the field were really fun.”

However, homecoming planning isn’t always easy. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. This is proven by the student council members who are in charge of homecoming.

“We have to pick out the themes for homecoming and vote on them,” student council member Joslyn Samuelson said. “It’s really fun being the ones to pick the theme out but it can be upsetting if the theme you want doesn’t get picked.” 

While the student council members had their expectations for homecoming, so did the students relying on them to make homecoming all come together. 

“I’m expecting homecoming to be even better than last year,” Hoang said. “I want it to be very fun and have fun decorations.” 

While it may be stressful with everyone depending on you to assemble homecoming, there’s also fun aspects of it for the student council members. 

“My favorite part about planning homecoming is getting to help put all of the decorations up,” Samuelson said. “ We had to wake up early the morning of homecoming but it’s still fun.” 

With homecoming 2022 over the student council members are looking back on another successful homecoming. 

“I felt really happy when all of our planning paid off, “ Samuelson said. “The decorations all looked really good.” 

With homecoming 2022 in the books students are already looking forward to next year’s homecoming. It may be stressful getting ready for homecoming but in the end it’s all worth it.
